This Farmhouse by Meyer Davis Studio was designed as a modern interpretation of a hunting lodge. After doing several research studies on iconic modernist residences, the architects decided on a minimalist shape that is well connected to the Tennessee landscape: “Sitting on a grass plinth, the house acts as a simple geometric representation of the natural topography; it is essentially a glass box, taking advantage of all available views.

“Spatial playfulness between the interior and exterior, combined with exquisite detail of materials is what makes this home special.” Philip Johnson’s Glass House and Richard Neutra’s Kaufmann House were the main projects that inspired this nature retreat.”

Transparency is the most striking feature of the design: “The dramatic rectilinear structure combines sleek modern geometric lines with towering walls of glass to create a beautiful, livable home with free-­‐flowing spaces inside and out. It is luxury expressed in its most basic terms, a glass bathroom has a private bath with wrap around vistas, art‐filled glass corridors look and feel like exterior rooms.” The living areas provide a feeling of a “view-within-a-view”, due to glass panels that separate them from the neighboring interiors.
